"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable think is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes." (from 'Attitude' by Charles Swindoll)

Trochę zaniedbałam mojego bloga... i całe moje życie też.

A tymczasem dzisiaj przetrwałam moje pierwsze trzęsienie ziemi; a przynajmiej pierwsze wyczuwalne.

I blog got totally ignored lately. And so did my entire life.
It's a shame to admit that I haven't cooked since I started working at the beginning of July. Every now and then I make something from half-prepped ingredients, or I'll fix a quick salad. The only positive outcome of all that is that I finally have an opportunity to check off some of the restaurants on my list of places to try.

Since we're talking checklists... I love them. They certainly make my chaotic life easier. Except from "restaurants to try" list I have a shopping list, a list of scientific papers and medical topics to read on, a list of things to write about on my blog. I hope that when I finally find a way to fit two days worth of stuff in twenty four hours, I'll be able to check off some more stuff of these lists.

Meanwhile, I've survived my first earthquake today; or at least the first one that I could actually feel. I was seeing a patient in clinic, when the shaking began. At first I thought that someone heavy was walking outside of the office just behind my door, but when the shaking didn't stop, and jars on the counter and a computer on my desk started moving, I realized it was an earthquake. At the 3rd floor level I could definitely appreciate the motion. The whole episode lasted no longer than 10 seconds or so, but it was enough to give me goose bumps.
